My Story

How did it all start?

I was born on a sunny winter day in Bucharest, Romania. My childhood was deeply connected to stories and I wrote my first one sometime in the primary school. It was about a brave girl with private detective skills and it was called Secret of the Marine Shells.

I never stopped writing, even while I was working in marketing and advertising. At some point, I closed the corporate chapter and became a full time creative freelancer, making my debut in children's magazines. In 2017 I moved to Zürich with my husband and our daughter. I continued my literary projects; I self-published three children books through Amazon and co-wrote a book with a friend through a traditional publishing house.

A few years later I discovered the beauty of making ceramics, so I started this journey that completes and enriches my artistic expression. The two activities feed off each other, creating storytelling that sparks conversation and connects people. One keeps my imagination flowing, the other one keeps me grounded, but the magic is that roles interchange.

The Process

Behind the scenes

When it comes to my writing, everything starts with a blank page and an idea. In ceramics, everything mostly starts with a thought and a sketch. Then I take a small lump of clay and slowly, with patience and attention to detail, I transform it into one-of-a-kind pieces.

As a ceramist, I constantly learn through play and experimentation with forms, colours and textures. My art is organic, a mix of intuition and intention rooted in the pure joy of creating.

The objects I create often stand at the intersection of functional and aesthetic, influenced by the Japanese philosophy wabi-sabi which celebrates the raw beauty of nature, with its imperfections and asymmetric lines. I started on the pottery wheel, but when I discovered hand building, I was hooked. From that point on, every object has been created entirely by hand. Without moulds and using some of the oldest techniques in pottery, such as coiling and pinching, I make quirky objects that create a special visual and tactile experience.

Inspiration

Where does my muse come from?

Sometimes it comes from the smell of rain, other times from spending time with my loved ones or from a happy childhood memory. When the muse is busy, dancing takes me to that place in my mind, where imagination flows uninterrupted and free.

I am happy you discovered my creative realm. If something caught your attention, I am just one email away.
