This policy follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies to visitors from the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
When you sign up, I collect your email address, your first name if you give it, and the time of your sign-up and confirmation. I use them only to send you the newsletter: early access to new ceramic collections, studio diaries and news about my books.
Sign-up uses double opt-in: you only receive emails after confirming your address through the link I send you.
Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to me. Your data is deleted when you unsubscribe, unless I am legally required to keep it.
The newsletter is sent with Mailchimp, a service of Intuit Inc., USA. Your email address is stored on Mailchimp's servers in the USA. If you write to me through the contact form or by email, I use your name, email address and message only to answer you and, if you order a piece, to handle the order, payment and shipping. Legal basis: carrying out a contract or pre-contractual steps (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Order records are kept as long as required by Swiss law [LEGAL: retention period for business records].
Messages from the contact form are delivered by email through this website's own mail server. To protect the form against abuse, the message also includes the IP address it was sent from, and the server briefly keeps a count of messages per IP address in memory.
